E10 Fuel for Thought

The E10 Fuel for Thought campaign is due to commence in the first half of 2017 and has been designed to give NSW motorists a better understanding of ethanol-blended fuel and its compatibility with most petrol-powered cars on the road today.

Compatibility checker

We’re excited about bringing you our E10 compatibility checker, a quick and easy online search tool that can be used to find out if any car can run on E10 petrol. The compatibility checker will soon be available and if you’d like to be one of the first to try it out, enter your details via the button below and stay tuned for an email letting you know when it's live.

E10 facts

Did you know:

  • E10 is regular unleaded petrol blended with up to 10% ethanol
  • ethanol is liquid energy made by fermenting the starch in wheat (or the glucose in sugar cane)
  • the majority of petrol cars on Australian roads today are compatible with E10.

Since 1 October 2007, NSW has had a biofuel mandate requiring 6% of the total volume of petrol sold to be ethanol. By giving NSW motorists a better understanding of ethanol-blended fuel and its compatibility with most petrol-powered cars on the road today, the E10 Fuel for Thought campaign will aim to improve the industry’s performance against the mandate.
