Fair Trading Week

24-28 October 2016

Fair Trading Week 24-28 October 2016NSW Fair Trading Week is an annual, week-long celebration to help raise awareness about the rights and responsibilities of both consumers and traders in the marketplace.

This year our theme is ‘Our focus is You’, and our aim is to illustrate some of the work we do and services we provide that you may not necessarily be aware of.

Don’t forget Fair Trading has a Facebook page, ‘Like’ our page and keep up to date with our latest products, events and information services.

Follow Fair Trading week on Twitter #FTWeek.

Shred and Protect

Shred and Protect iconDuring Fair Trading Week we will be educating people on ways they can protect their identity starting with getting down to one of our FREE shredding trucks who are there to dispose of your personal documents in a safe and secure way.

Our Shred and Protect community events will take place in five locations.

Tell us your gift card stories

Gift card survey logoWe want to hear more about your experiences with gift cards. During Fair Trading Week 2016, we are calling on consumers to search out and redeem any gift cards held (current or expired), and to share your experiences with us – the good and the bad.

We think you will be surprised at just how many gift cards you might find in your wallet, around the house, or sitting in your inbox waiting to be redeemed. Now is the perfect time, particularly leading up to Christmas, to ensure you maximise your gift card value.

We are asking NSW consumers to:

  • Find all your gift cards
  • Redeem them with the retailers
  • Expired? Contact your retailer, as some will still allow you to use them – but check first before you shop!
  • Tell us about your experiences – go to the gift card survey
