Retirement villages
Register of retirement villages
NSW Fair Trading and the Land and Property Management Authority are developing a register of all retirement villages in NSW. The register will enable Fair Trading to easily distribute important information about changes to the laws or other matters relevant to all retirement villages.
Operators of existing villages must notify the Land and Property Management Authority that their land is being used as a retirement village by 1 June 2010. For new villages, notification must be given before entering into any village contracts with residents. Registration is a once-only process.
How to register
Village operators need to complete a Request form, available from the Land and Property Management Authority website. On the Request form, the operator only needs to identify the land (or the relevant part of the land) that is being used as a retirement village and the name of the retirement village. The Request to Enter Notification Pursuant to Section 24A Retirement Villages Act 1999 form (PDF size: 106kb) is available on the Land and Property Management Authority website.
